, On with the Story (Portsmouth, NH: Boynton) 1994 A guide to continuing storytelling into middle and highschool. The book emphasizes writing, but has many activities have application for storytelling.
, Personal Mythology (Tarcher, Los Angeles) 1988. A good resource for finding your own mythic journey.
, The Healing Art of Storytelling (New York: Hyperion) 1996. Contains many prompts for unearthing your stories and how to have community around storytelling.
, Managing by Storying Around (New York, Doubleday) 1992. An excellent book on the practicalities and effectiveness of telling stories in organizations.
, The Careless Society: Community and its Counterfeits (New York, Basic Books) 1995. A challenging book about the commodification of caring and building upon the capacity of communities.
, Permaculture: A Designer's Manual (Tyalgum, Tagari) 1996. One of the founders of permaculture. Though technical at times, this book is an excellent guide for integrating people, land, and animals.
, Service-Learning: Applications from the Research (Lawrence Erlbaum Assoc., Mahwah) 1997. A review of the academic articles about how to integrate service with academic curriculum.
, Communities of Practice(Cambridge University Press, Cambridge) 1998. An groundbreaking analysis of community within work settings. This work has influenced the development of learning community theory.
, Creative Storytelling: Building Community, Changing Lives (New York, Routledge) 1995. An excellent resource for providing opportunities for young people to write their stories and re-write their lives.
