Workshops

Gathering Gold Preserving our history and heritage is becoming crucial. Learn techniques for encouraging, interviewing, documenting, and archiving stories from community elders.

Telling Stories at Work Storytelling is infiltrating the business world. From knowledge management to marketing, storytelling can produce results in the workplace. The National Storytelling Network has formed a special interest group devoted to this topic. Small business owners, managers, sales people, and organizational development specialists will benefit from the interactive exercises in this workshop. Through these activities, they’ll learn how to concisely tell the story of their business, how to communicate the organization’s vision, how to draw out people’s stories to understand best practices, and how to build upon the strengths of personnel through the appreciative inquiry of storytelling.

Teaching with Stories This workshop is for teacher and school administrators who seek to use storytelling to teach state-mandated skills to students. The workshop will cover the curriculum: language arts, social sciences, math, and science. Participants will practice finding stories and making fun activities that connect the TEKS with stories. After practicing with telling stories, you’ll feel more comfortable bringing them to the class and students will respond with greater attention, involvement, and academic achievement.

Custom workshops available as well.
